The Purpose of Ministry (diakonia) in our Parish

From the Parish Regulations of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America

The collective ministry (diakonia) of our parish includes proclaiming and teaching the Gospel in accordance with the Orthodox Faith; sanctifying the faithful through God’s grace in worship, the Divine Liturgy and the other sacraments; enhancing its parishioners spiritual life; and adding to the numbers of the faithful by receiving persons into the Church through instruction, baptism, and/or confirmation. In addition, our parish engages in educational and philanthropic activities to foster our aims and mission and to edify our parishioners in the Faith and ethos of the Church. Our parish may also engage in inter-Orthodox, ecumenical and interfaith activities in a manner consistent with the policies of the Archdiocese.
